Position: Full-Time Water & Sewer Crew Member
We will interview qualified applicants for this full-time position who meet the following job requirements:
Under direct supervision, this position performs technical operations and construction tasks in the maintenance, installation and repair of CUB’s water and wastewater systems’ infrastructures in compliance with the established standards of CUB and regulatory agencies.
Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED is required. Experience as a water distribution and/or wastewater collection system worker is desired. Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License, and possession of a valid CDL is desired.
Abilities and Skills:
Must possess or be able to learn within a reasonable period of time the basic knowledge and skills necessary to perform a variety of water and sewer utility operations and construction work. Must have the ability to be trained to use all equipment, tools, instruments, etc., necessary to safely perform all work required in the classification. Must have, or be able to obtain within eighteen months following initial employment, a State of Tennessee Water or Wastewater Systems 2 Certification. Must be willing and able to work outside the majority of the time and in all kinds of weather. Will be subject to working overtime as necessary and/or being called in at any hour in emergency situations and therefore must demonstrate the ability to remain calm and function under emergency situations. Must be able to perform and contribute in a teamwork environment. Will have contact with employees in other CUB departments, the general public and contractors. Must be able to communicate effectively with W&S crew members, crew supervisors, other CUB personnel, contractors and the general public when necessary.
Other additional qualifications CUB will consider in evaluating the applicants include attitude, experience, safety record, motor vehicle driving record and personnel record (i.e. past job performance and employment history).
This position is subject to pre-employment drug screening, random drug testing and adherence to the Board’s standards for a drug-free workplace.
